Welcome to the 2016 Lifestyle with Tina B.! They say you should start a blog with clear intent and messaging platform and while that sounds nice, it doesn’t always work out so seamlessly. Lots of people have reached out to me about starting a blog and I always say – go for it. Exercise your creative abilities, explore different topics and find your individual blogging voice. While others may be saying the same thing, they won’t say it like you. Just keep in mind although you may start with one theme, idea or platform in mind, it may continue to evolve and change over time. That’s the beauty of creativity – it’s ever-changing.
When I first started blogging back in 2011, I focused more on sharing my journey as an entrepreneur transitioning out of corporate America. For a short time I launched a video blog series using the outline of a book I was writing at the time as the subject matter. Once that series was complete, the blog then became a hub for tips on holiday decor, room organization and meal planning.
The third wave of my blogging life is when I launched Lifestyle with Tina B. in the fall of 2012. I began casting my net a bit too wide, however. I wanted to write about life, style, design, decor, home entertaining, food, wifehood, motherhood, health wellness and….well, you get the point. I had a lot I wanted to share! A coach I was working with temporarily advised me to be specific with my content and find a real, tangible target audience. This has proven to be the biggest challenge.
I’ve given lots of thought about what I want to focus on and it is impossible for me not to talk about the things I am passionate about. I categorize the blog as life, style and inspiration which could mean a lot of things and that’s the point. Cast your net over a broad scope of ideas. This will allow you to blog about all sorts of things and explore new territory without ever getting bored. Through my 5 year blogging journey thus far, one concept remains true: my main goal is to encourage others to live well and follow their dreams. I hope to ignite, inspire and build a space for the everyday, busy, creative, hard-working woman who never stops dreaming.
Let’s get started today.
With Love & Light,
I am now writing a weekly blog for The Huffington Post. I will share
the link when it’s published. Thanks for reading and dreaming with me.
