Forever Purple Reign

We lost Prince yesterday. One of music’s greatest icons, influences, and forces. A musical genius. An artist that created definitive work and became legendary within his own lifetime. Many tributes have been paid, but I wish more had been done to celebrate all that he not only gave to music but his incredible work in activism, community and philanthropy. For me personally, Prince represented a huge part of my childhood and youth. Growing up, my older sister Coscelia was a Prince fanatic. And on her mini radio, with 2 sided cassette tapes we jammed away to the provocative music that I later on fell in love with.

Starfish and Coffee, Continental, I Would Die for You, Adore, I Wanna Be Your Lover, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Let’s Go Crazy, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World are just a few of the hits that I can remember from that time. Learning all the words and ad libs, it would become literally the soundtrack of my coming of age years. Rest In Peace, Prince.

With Love & Purple Light,

-Tina B.
