Hello and Happy New Year! It’s been a long time, my friends and I am grateful to connect with you all once again. 2017. It’s almost surreal thinking about that number. I can so clearly recall being 17. That was almost 20 years ago! Tis the season for fresh starts, clean slates, and beginning again. Some of you are working on fitness goals and nutrition habits, while others may be focused on career progression or perhaps you want to learn a new skill, start graduate school, or begin planning your family.
Once thing I know to be true is not much is possible without a strong will for change, a strong desire for the goal, and a strong mind. Your mind and the way you think about yourself and your goals sets the tone as to whether you will achieve them and how difficult that journey may be. Before I take on any new venture, especially if it’s something I fear, I have to visualize myself doing it and excelling. Doubt, fear, and negativity will always be in the shadows lurking, looking to blow out your flame to win. But you must think positive at all times. Prayer, meditation, and even journaling can all help you stay focused.
Remember, how you think is 75% of the battle. Those that accomplish great things, “saw” themselves doing it before they even took the first step into the unknown. Nurture your mind, push back when doubt tries to creep up. Think joy. Choose joy. Will yourself to keep pushing forward. Your mind is the most important muscle you will ever use. Whip it into shape! Once you begin practicing positive and willful thinking, it becomes easier every time.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
